Summary

A ski designed to be responsive and balanced on any terrain. It adapts to the characteristics of all snows, from powder to hard, as long as it is rided with experience. A suitable tool for the experienced skier who goes on long trips with changing conditions, but also for the intermediate skier who wants to level up.

Pros

  • Stability
  • Floatability
  • Versatility of use
  • Responsiveness in harsh conditions

Cons

  • Non-minimal weight

The Majesty Superpatrol 95 is a ski that is part of the Polish company’s new touring collection. A collection that has been updated with a paulownia wood core, redesigned and enhanced with poplar wood stringers.

This design made it possible to develop shorter skis, with the position of the bindings shifted slightly toward the tail, so as to promote agility and versatility. This is, in Majesty’s intentions, a ski for the most demanding and advanced skiers and mountain professionals.

Test mode

I used the Majesty Superpatrol skis in spring 2024, until late season. The skis were mounted with new ATK RT 11 evo bindings and I used them mainly with La Sportiva Kilo boots (due to breakage of my cosmos) and with Scarpa Quattro XT boots.

The matching skins are Majesty Superpatrol Super Hot-melt mixed type, 65 % mohair and 35 % nylon, which I honestly was not thrilled with. They have good grip on all types of snow but fairly poor glide and very strong glue that compromised the smoothness of the ski to some extent as well.

Thanks to the continuation of the season I was able to use the Majesty Superpatrols in very different conditions, from the worst varieties of crust to very good spring firn, with a couple of skis on powder that later turned into very wet heavy snow. Elevation gains have ranged from 800 to 1,600 meters.

First impressions

On first contact, the Majesty Superpatrol feels light but not very light, and the fairly significant stiffness (not extreme) immediately returns a feeling of solidity.

With a sidecut that winks at the freeride world, and generously sized edges, you can tell that you have on your hands a ski designed for skiers with a medium-high level.

Aesthetics and design

The screen printing is certainly striking despite not being particularly garish. The predominant color is light gray, on which the three-dimensional design of the mountains is perfectly visible.

The insole is black, with pink inserts that certainly do not go unnoticed.

The Majesty Superpatrol uphill

The Majesty Superpatrol is not the lightest (1,580 g), but it allows for trips with significant elevation gains even for untrained skiers without overstraining the legs.

Easy in inversions, it maneuvers well thanks to an apt balance.

In particular, I am pleased to report excellent behavior on hard snows. Thanks to the rather important torsional stiffness and a not extreme sidecut, you can perfectly load the edges and use a lot of edge. This provides confidence to the skier despite the fact that the shovel is rather set back.

The Majesty Superpatrol downhill

A peculiarity of the Majesty is that it adapts its behavior according to the skier’s demand.

With the Superpatrol one can safely ski in relaxation , being easy and maneuverable thanks to its geometry. But, should the going get tough, the ski’s fairly rigid construction returns excellent responses without ever making it feel nervous or unmanageable.

Downhill on powder snow

On powder, the rocker at the tip and the generous size greatly help flotation and entry into turns, allowing the skier to think only about enjoying the descent.

If you’re a fan of high speeds, fear not: the flat tail helps increase the Superpatrol’s stability, although it requires good technique to exit turns well, staying on the ski to the last.

Downhill on hard snow

Weight and stiffness in these conditions give it an edge: here the Superpatrol really shows itself for what it is, a performance ski with character.

Provided you have leg and technique, hard snow will not be a problem. With the Superpatrols you will never have the feeling of being at the mercy of events but will be able to perfectly transmit the forces needed to attack the terrain.

Downhill on spring snow

Here the Superpatrol probably has a few mm too much, but by loading it appropriately, it returns enough elasticity to allow you to ski smoothly with any turn radius. Again, the flat tail requires some experience from the skier to best handle exiting turns.

Downhill on crust

The set-back shovel helps break up the snow by favoring a slightly narrower tip entry. In general, the structure of the ski makes it easier for the skier to overcome the roughness of the terrain but, of course, legs and technique are required on this terrain.

General Feeling

I can only confirm what Majesty states: the Superpatrol 95 is a true all-around ski. At a reasonable weight, the ski has a balanced construction that ensures high performance in any situation.

A ski that has no particular weaknesses, but adapts its behavior according to the skier’s demand: precise and stable in difficult conditions, fun and easily maneuverable on powder.
It is definitely the ideal companion for long trips where you face very different snows.

The only phase that requires a little attention is the exit from the turn in which, as mentioned, you need to keep the weight on the outer ski right to the end of the turn, guiding it to the end.

Unfortunately, I was not able to test it on the slope, but given its behavior on steep and hard snow, I have no reason to doubt its performance.

Size of the Majesty Superpatrol

I am 178 cm tall and 65 kg and tested the ski in the 177 cm version. Despite the fact that the manufacturer’s guidebook suggests a 185 cm ski for my level, I was very comfortable with the 177 cm and did not feel the need for a longer ski.

Most likely if I were 2 or 3 cm taller and weighed around 75k g, the 185 cm version ski would give me more satisfaction.

The Superpatrol is designed for challenging, challenging outings, for skiers who even if they don’t boast flawless techniqueare able to control the ski and make it do what you want them to do.

The great merit of Majesty’s designers is not only in having designed a performance ski for strong skiers who can take it to the limit. What I find most interesting is the Superpatrol’s ability to adapt to people who ski well but not great, because it is a ski that even when used in relaxed mode turns well and does not need too much technique and strength to achieve performance. Therefore, I think it is very good for intermediate and growing skiers, who are looking for a ski to continue to improve.

I would not recommend it for novice skiers, who do not need great performance and can find easier skis on the market to have fun with.
