In mid-May, in Riva del Garda, it was almost teeth-chattering cold.
Snowy peaks above 1,000 meters and crisp air certainly did not lead one to think about new products for summer 2027. Yet the European Outdoor Week – which was held right there – was an excellent opportunity to meet many companies in the sector and understand where the market is heading in the four reference worlds: mountaineering, hiking, climbing, and trail running.
What is the main trend? A clear polarization in the offering is confirmed. On one hand, extreme specialization continues, with equipment and garments obsessively designed for specific uses. On the other, we are witnessing a phenomenon of functional syncretism, thanks to which hybrid products are flourishing – the result of contamination between different activities, and whose use is sometimes not definable a priori.
Which of these two trends will prove successful?
Perhaps neither, even if – we won’t hide it – we really like hybridizations. They are the most evident proof of the imagination and creativity of a sector from which we ask for the tools to have fun in the mountains.
But this year we leave the last word to you, letting you vote – among the 50 products we present to you – for the one you consider the best for each category!
Happy reading and happy choosing!
