Winter 2024: best mountain products previews

Winter is not over yet and we are already thinking about the next one! Below is a preview of some of the most interesting products we have seen at two of the most important winter mountain shows: ISPO and Winter Business Days.

These are products that will be on sale in the coming months or in the autumn, that we have already tested and that we will then report on in detail in our reviews.

Trollkyrkja Woolshell Jacket & Pants

A decidedly unconventional hard shell suit made from 100% merino wool using the innovative high performance MerinoPerform™ WP fabric.

Windproof, snow and water resistant, it is ideal for ski mountaineering and freeriding in conditions that require thermal regulation and protection. Bib trousers with extended back and front panels.

OSA 32+5

Backpack named after the acronym “Ottimo Sciatore Alpinista” that means “Excellent Ski Mountaineer” or “Operatore Soccorso Alpino” that means “Mountain Rescue Operator”, dedicated to the world of ski touring and organised rescue.

It has a double closure with a partially removable roll-up and a front opening with a full-length zip. Internal pocket for shovel and probe.



Tower 3.0 Extreme Gtx

Semi-automatic technical boot, an evolution of the previous model. Two-layer construction with external gaiter and double Boa adjustment system that works in symbiosis with the Heel Lock system.

Gore-Tex eco ePE membrane with Insulated Comfort protection. Present Tower 3.0 classic version with laces and without gaiter.

Clean and functional pack. Many features including: rear opening, reinforced diagonal ski carrying strap, integrated retractable helmet holder, metal locking buckles and zipped pocket on the shoulder strap for attaching a water bag.

One of the most popular ARTVAs on the market gets a makeover, winning the ISPO 2023 award in its category. Equipped with voice guidance, Bluetooth module (and its app for updates) and a claimed range of 70 metres.

The new model is more compact and lighter, and features a screen with MIP technology for better viewing of the information provided in all conditions.



Cliff Jacket & Pants

Three-layer Gore-Tex suit from the new Vertigo line dedicated to technical mountaineering, also available in a women’s version. Attention to detail and adjustments for optimal fit and comfort.

Helmet compatible hood and zip study for backpack and harness compatibility. Pants with full-length side zips and integrated gaiters.

Winner of the ISPO Award in its category, this is a thermal jacket with an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio thanks to the use of Aetherm, a new synthetic and fully recycled padding developed by Mountain Equipment’s research department.

It can be stowed in the inside pocket and promises excellent thermal insulation and quick drying in all conditions.

Zaino Switchback

Ski mountaineering backpack present in two standard sizes (27s and 32s) and two sizes with reduced backs (25s and 30s), indicated for the female audience. It replaces the previous Ascent by equipping itself with some improvements such as quick ski attachment with carabiner clip, dedicated storage pockets on the shoulder straps and full-length perimeter zipper back opening.

Present concealed storage for ice axe, poles, rope and integrated helmet holder.

Khroma Diffract Jacket

Jacket dedicated to the world of freeriding and ski mountaineering in very cold conditions. It has a lightweight Primaloft Silver insulation, with different thicknesses according to body zones and tricks, making it durable and extremely breathable.

It has a helmet-compatible hood and underarm vents. Matching pants are also available.

Minimal “under shell” down jacket with 1000 fill power and excellent compressibility thanks to a special compression pocket.

Minimal 10 Denier Rip Stop fabric, very thin and light, without any water repellent treatment to allow maximum compressibility. Available with or without hood.



Ribelle Trk Gtx

New model from the famous Ribelle family, dedicated to off-piste and technical trekking.

It offers good support thanks to the ankle wrap, while it turns out excellent fluidity and grip when walking. The Gore-Tex membrane and suede construction guarantee resistance to weather and impact.

Explore Air 92

Truly lightweight touring skis that enter the popular 90-95mm underfoot segment.

Packaged weight of just 1150g in the 172cm size. A Paulonia woodcore, carbon reinforcements and a Titanal centre plate provide a great compromise between fast ascents and downhill fun.

Adrenalite Race Jacket & Pants

Available in men’s and women’s versions, this suit is designed for fast ski mountaineering in spring. Regular fit for the jacket and slimmer fit for the pants.

Breathability is provided by knitted zones, and the fabric, made from bi-helical recycled and Bluesign certified Storm Fleece, is snow and light water resistant.

Backpack with weatherproof and water-repellent fabric, also available in 20 and 26 litre sizes for short and freeride trips. Full-length rear zip and top access.

A special compartment for self-rescue equipment and many hidden accessories make this a very functional pack with minimal style.
