Both are made of Grilamid Bio&nbsp;<strong>Based LF Carbon<\/strong>; the Grilamid Bio is enriched with castor fibres, which help to maintain the stiffness characteristics when the temperature changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very interesting are the lateral \u2018<strong>ribs<\/strong>\u2019 that start from the two lateral pins of the cuff and join into a single rib on the calf. They help to guarantee the rigidity and support necessary for the descent, given the absence of the \u2018tongue\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Liner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The O2 Kilo liner is not exactly minimalist like many of the boots in the Light category and provides unusual comfort for this type of boot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" one on the tongue and one on the calf, ensure <strong>excellent support when descending<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sole<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Sole was made in-house by the Trento company and is called<strong>&nbsp;FriXion Wave Alpine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" excellent, both on snow and on the trail, the result of an excellent combination of<strong>&nbsp;tread and tyre properties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img February and May for a total of about 15 outings, during which I found both typical winter conditions (powder and hard snow) and spring conditions (firn and transformed snow).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Foot entry can take place in two ways:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Leaving the shoe in the shell<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By pulling the shoe out and, once it has been fitted, slipping it into the shell<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Personally, having a skinny foot, I have not experienced any difficulty with the first metodo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" thing that amazed me the most, having used both a pair of Spitfires and a pair of Skorpius, were the&nbsp;<strong>internal volumes<\/strong>, which had definitely increased compared to the two models mentioned above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The uphill behaviour<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Climbing performance is definitely the Kilo&#8217;s strong point. The 70\u00b0 leg angle and minimal mechanical friction guarantee an&nbsp;<strong>ease of walking comparable to a race model<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"La Sportiva Kilo\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uW3afRjje34?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/mountainreview.com\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Inclinazione del gambetto e chiusura<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The behaviour when&nbsp;<strong>walking without skis<\/strong>&nbsp;is also very good, which is essential during tours with alpine sections or in spring, when a bit of shouldering is often unavoidable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The La Sportiva Kilo downhill<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The<strong>&nbsp;transition between the uphill phase and the downhill phase<\/strong>&nbsp;is done simply by operating the lever located behind the calf and slightly flexing the cuff so that the latter engages in the support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I really appreciated the fact that the spring system connected to the lever is entirely \u2018embedded\u2019 in the plastic of the cuff; this expedient prevents problems in the event of ice formation or shocks due to a fall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-12.jpg\" alt=\" ski walk lever la sportiva kilo\" class=\"wp-image-28725\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-12.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-12-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fastening system consists of&nbsp;<strong>two&nbsp;<\/strong>classic&nbsp;<strong>hooks&nbsp;<\/strong>, one on the metatarsus and one on the cuff, plus the&nbsp;<strong>Booster Strap<\/strong>that helps support the cuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The hook on the metatarsus is combined with a cable that helps to distribute the tension over a wider area, guaranteeing an effective lock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-09.jpg\" alt=\"parte superiore dello scarpone\" class=\"wp-image-28726\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-09.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-09-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Both<strong>&nbsp;hooks are adjustable<\/strong>, providing a decent range of customisation, which is uncommon on boots in the light category. With a couple of test rides, I found the correct setting for my foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I found the ergonomics of the levers very good, which are always easy to operate even with thicker gloves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-10.jpg\" alt=\"i ganci di chiusura dello scarpone\" class=\"wp-image-28727\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-10.jpg 600w, https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-10-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Initially I was sceptical about the Kilo&#8217;s&nbsp;<strong>progressive flex<\/strong> (the elasticity it gives back once loaded forward): it seemed that it was not rigid enough. Instead, while skiing, I never had the feeling of insufficient support; on the contrary, this elasticity helps in the exit in turns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-18.jpg\" alt=\"test scarponi laspo in discesa\" class=\"wp-image-28728\" style=\"width:840px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-18.jpg 800w, https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-18-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/mountainreview.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/La-Sportiva-Kilo-18-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The standard <strong>inclination<\/strong>&nbsp;of the&nbsp;<strong>cuff is 12\u00b0<\/strong>. This setting is not ideal for my skiing technique as it shifts the centre of gravity too far back, making my quadriceps fatigued. Personally, I have a Mondopoint size of 285 millimetres and this is what I have always bought for the other La Sportiva models. However, with the Kilo I realised that the fit is more generous and that it would have been better to take half a size smaller.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I cab say that the Kilo is not a particularly good boot for skinny feet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Recommended for<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The La Sportiva Kilo is a boot that I recommend for those who want to tackle<strong>&nbsp;tours with significant development and elevation<\/strong>&nbsp;gain. Even in the presence of&nbsp;<strong>mountaineering sections<\/strong>&nbsp;where a light boot with a good fit is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is a&nbsp;<strong>high-performance<\/strong>&nbsp;boot on&nbsp;<strong>the ascent<\/strong>, which also offers&nbsp;<strong>guarantees<\/strong>&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<strong>descent<\/strong>. With a comfort that allows you to have it on your feet for 7 or 8 hours without any problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Obviously the perfect combination is with a&nbsp;<strong>light ski&nbsp;<\/strong>(with a width of less than 90 mm), but it can also offer satisfaction with skis in the tour category.
